Built for the Demands of Frontier AI
AVTR was founded on a single conviction: Southeast Asia's AI infrastructure deficit is one of the most significant capital deployment opportunities of the next decade. We are building the physical layer that makes the region's AI future possible.
Why AVTR Exists
The hyperscalers, sovereign AI programmes, and enterprise AI adopters driving the next wave of compute demand cannot be served by repurposed enterprise data centers. They require purpose-built infrastructure — designed from first principles for the thermal, power, and connectivity demands of frontier AI workloads.
AVTR exists to build that infrastructure in Southeast Asia. Not as a regional outpost of a global operator, but as a sovereign-grade, locally-rooted institution — one that understands the regulatory landscape, the energy grid, and the geopolitical dynamics of the region it serves.
The Batam Thesis
Every infrastructure company is ultimately a geography thesis. Ours is Batam.
20km from Singapore
Batam sits within the Riau Islands archipelago, directly south of Singapore across the Strait of Malacca. Subsea fibre cables provide sub-5ms round-trip latency to Singapore's financial and cloud core — the lowest-latency alternative jurisdiction to Singapore itself.
Indonesia's Digital Sovereignty Agenda
Indonesia's national AI strategy explicitly calls for domestic AI infrastructure capacity. AVTR's Batam location positions it as a natural partner for the Indonesian government's digital sovereignty programme — creating a durable regulatory moat that foreign operators cannot easily replicate.
Batam Free Trade Zone
The Batam FTZ, administered by BIDA, offers significant advantages over Singapore: lower land costs, tax incentives for technology infrastructure, streamlined foreign investment approvals, and access to Indonesia's energy grid — including Riau Islands renewable generation.
Regional Interconnect Hub
Batam's position at the intersection of major subsea cable routes connecting East Asia, South Asia, and Australia makes it a natural neutral interconnect point for Southeast Asian AI infrastructure — a role no existing facility in the region currently fills.
The Team
AVTR's leadership team combines deep expertise in data center development, infrastructure finance, and Southeast Asian market entry.
Decades of combined experience in hyperscale data center design, construction, and operations across Asia-Pacific. Previously led development programmes at Tier I operators in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Institutional infrastructure finance background spanning project finance, sovereign wealth fund engagement, and infrastructure debt markets across Southeast Asia and the GCC.
Deep relationships with BIDA, Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and Riau Islands provincial government. Extensive experience navigating Indonesia's investment and permitting frameworks.
Specialised expertise in direct liquid cooling systems, HVDC power distribution, and AI-optimised facility design. Background in deploying GPU clusters at scale for hyperscaler and sovereign cloud customers.
How We Operate
Institutional Discipline
We operate to the standards of the institutional partners we serve. Every decision — from site selection to capital structure — is made with long-term institutional credibility as the primary constraint.
Sovereign Alignment
We build with, not around, the governments and regulators of the jurisdictions we operate in. Sovereign alignment is not a compliance exercise — it is a competitive advantage.
Engineering Rigour
We do not adapt legacy infrastructure to new workloads. Every system is designed from first principles for the demands of frontier AI — and held to the uptime and efficiency standards of the world's best operators.
Long-Term Orientation
AI infrastructure is a multi-decade asset class. We make decisions on that timescale — prioritising durable competitive position over short-term capital efficiency.
Partner With AVTR
We are actively engaging institutional investors, hyperscalers, and government partners for Stage 1 development.
